After taking 13 years to build my first hot rod, a 1936 Plymouth Sedan which we took on many Rod Runs within the state, with our children (who are now grown up). In 1994 it was time to build my "Dream Car". The Plymouth was advertised for sale and work was started on the chassis for the Coupe. This was cut out of a sheet of 3mm steel plate. The Plymouth was sold (too cheap) and the body was ordered from Deuce Customs in Melbourne. A Chrysler-By-Chrysler was purchased as a donor car, and the work was started in earnest. The Coupe was ready for registration in just under twelve months. We were still cutting and polishing at 1.00am the day we were booked on the boat to go to the 1995 Nationals in Queensland. The Coupe had only 80kms on the clock when we headed off. We travelled all the way to the Nationals and back (0ver 5,000kms) with no problems. The Coupe has now covered around 30,000kms, including several more trips over Bass Strait to the mainland for Rod Runs in November, 1997 and the Geelong Nationals at Easter, 1999.
